without the power to communicate it, is wasted.

Shari’s award-winning writing skills are complemented by an ability to listen between the lines, anticipate and address audience biases and concerns, and write for the cadence of the speaker she is supporting. Because she has been delivering speeches of her own for more than 15 years, she knows first hand the value of compelling stories, arresting images, judicious pauses, and effective repetition. And she prides herself on being able to incorporate your ideas and reflect your speech patterns to craft an accessible and memorable text that persuades and inspires others.
Media Relations and Interview Training
For many years, Shari has provided media relations and media interview training to non-governmental organizations at a reduced non-profit rate. Having worked as a journalist in both print and broadcast media, she understands the needs of reporters, editors and producers. And having served as both a political press secretary, and the primary spokesperson for two national women’s organizations, she is very familiar with the challenges faced by many non profits in their efforts to respond to journalists’ requests, or generate sensitive attention to the issues they care most about.
Recent Clients include a variety of federal and provincial ministries and agencies, national associations, post secondary institutions, and not-for-profit organizations.
INFORMED OPINIONS – Smart Women Speak Up
Research demonstrates that women’s perspectives remain chronically under-represented in the print, broadcast and online media that exert the most influence on public discourse and policy priorities. Building on Media Action's research and advocacy work in this area, and on the success of the Op Ed Project in the US, Informed Opinions aims to help change the national conversation to include more women’s voices.
Following on a successful pilot project at the University
of Ottawa, Shari is delivering workshops in the university and non-profit
sectors to train and empower female experts to make their ideas and knowledge
more accessible and available to print, broadcast and online media. Contact
her for more information about Informed Opinions.
